DENVER -- Winter weather forced CDOT to shut down I-25 from Wellington to the Wyoming border Saturday night.

CDOT confirmed the closure in a tweet at 9:20 p.m. Saturday night.

The closure began at milemarker 278. A CDOT camera in the area showed first responders diverting drivers onto the off ramp.

CDOT has been forced to close several roads in northern Colorado, including US 287 between Country Road 45E, north of Virginia Dale and the Wyoming border.

The highway was still closed as of 7 a.m. Sunday.
