The husband of an Emirati woman put to death for killing a former Colorado resident now faces terror charges.
The National, a state-owned newspaper in Abu Dhabi, reported that a court hearing for the man took place Monday in the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
The newspaper says the man, identified by the initials MAH, is accused of planning to bomb a Formula 1 racetrack in Abu Dhabi and other tourist locations, while also targeting tourists and "an American military base." The newspaper says he is accused of planning to assassinate an unnamed Emirati leader.
The National says he denies the charges.
The man's wife, Alaa Bader Abdullah aka Dalal al Hashemi, was put to death in July for the murder of American schoolteacher Ibolya Ryan.
Ryanwas attacked by someone shrouded in a full black veil in a shopping center on the capital's upscale Reem Island in December 2014. Police say the attacker later planted a bomb outside another American's house that was discovered before it detonated.
The stabbing occurred on a Monday afternoon at the shopping mall. Video showed the suspect entering the mall at 1:12 p.m., riding an elevator and then turning down a hallway out of sight of the camera.
Col. Rashid Borshid, head of the Criminal Investigation Department, said a fight broke out between the victim and the attacker in the women's restroom just before the stabbing.
Ninety-two minutes later, at 2:44 p.m., the video shows several people running from the hallway. One woman appears to confront the suspect near the elevator, but runs away as the suspect got on. A minute later, the suspect strolled out of the mall.

She was originally dubbed the "Reem Island Ghost," because she was seen wearing an abaya -- a loose-fitting, black cloak worn by women in some parts of the Muslim world -- black gloves and the face-covering veil known as a niqab.
Police said Hashemi confessed to the crimes.
Ryan was in the United Arab Emirates teaching kindergarten, according to Footprints Recruiting Co-Founder & CEO Ben Glickman.
Ryan was the mother of 11-year-old twin boys.
