DENVER — Yet another carrier announced on Monday it will begin servicing the Denver International Airport, bringing with it hundreds of jobs.

According to DIA officials, WestJet, a Calgary, Canada, based company, boasts low fares and a link to Colorado's largest international trade partner.

"We welcome WestJet's investment in our market which further strengthens Denver's global brand," Denver Mayor Michael Hancock said. "This new service will continue to boost our economy."

Hancock estimated the statewide impact of the carrier would be $19 million annually, including the addition of more than 150 new jobs.

“WestJet is an airline we have long courted, and we are pleased the carrier has chosen Denver as its newest transborder destination,” Kim Day, Denver International Airport CEO, said.  “Not only are Denver and Calgary similar cities in terms of size and geography, but Denver International Airport and WestJet share similar values in terms of a strong commitment to customer service and a focus on innovation.”

Flights will begin between the two destinations daily starting in March of 2018. Introductory rates begin at $58, or just over $90 with taxes and fees.
