DENVER – Hundreds gathered at the state Capitol during a “Day Without a Woman” rally in Denver Wednesday.
The peaceful protest started at the Capitol but turned into a march as demonstrators walked along Broadway and Colfax in downtown Denver.
The protest coincides with the U.N.-designated International Women's Day and was inspired by “Day Without an Immigrant" rallies.
Organizers called for women to take Wednesday offand encouraged them not to spend money to show their economic strength and impact on American society.
March on Colorado organizers had hoped thousands would participate, but Wednesday’s rally failed to attract the numbers seen in January.
