Human remains found in desert outside Grand Junction

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office is looking through missing person records after human remains were found.

The remains were found Tuesday near a hiking trail in the desert northwest of Grand Junction.

The sheriff’s office is using this as a learning experience and brought in forensic students from Colorado Mesa University to help collect the remains and identify them.
