GOLDEN, Colo. — Police in Golden are praising victims of a series of thefts in the city for helping them locate and arrest a pair suspected of stealing the victim’s belongings.

The help came in the form of home surveillance videos and images that helped investigators link a series of criminal trespass and theft incidents.

Golden police said they have been investigating a disturbingly sharp increase in property crime around the city since June. The most recent string of thefts occurred early Friday morning with several vehicle break-ins in the Eagle Ridge neighborhood.

Community members affected by the crime worked with police by sharing their surveillance video, which linked the incidents and led police to two people: 39-year-old Antonio Epifano and 28-year-old Kathleen Epifano, both of Golden.

Investigators were able to obtain a search warrant at the suspects' trailer home located on B Street in the Golden Terrace neighborhood. More evidence was found in their home linking them to a series of local crimes, according to police.

The suspects are being held at the Jefferson County Detention Center.
