DENVER – The Mile High City may peg at the top or near the top of most health rankings, but we still like to get our fast-food grub on once in a while. And you don’t have to go too far to satisfy your fix.

Fast-food chains are ubiquitous in Denver, but how many locations are there? That's what we set out to learn. While we couldn’t go out and sample every single golden arches, an extensive search of the biggest chains paints an artery-clogging picture.

Please note: The ranking represents the number of locations each chain publishes on their websites. The exact number of locations may not be fully up-to-date.

Subway
The restaurant reigns king in Denver. Subway is the world’s largest single-brand restaurant chain and the same holds true in Denver. The chain has at least 50 locations.

Wendy’s
This chain appears to be the burger leader in Denver. According to its website, we counted at least 42 locations in Denver.

McDonald’s
You can’t go far in Denver without bumping into a location from the world’s largest burger chain. Although not as numerous as Subway or Wendy’s, the Golden Arches stands tall in Denver. According to its website, the chain has at least 30 locations.

Burger King
Once a large player in the fast-food market in Denver, this chain appears to be shrinking. Several locations have closed over the years. According to its website, at least 19 locations are located in Denver.

Taco Bell
Live mas is this chain’s motto, but the number of stores in Denver is menos (less). According to its website, the Mexican-food chain has around 15 locations in Denver.
