How diverse are Colorado's cities compared to others? Not very

DENVER – We know Colorado is a great place to live, but its cities aren't especially diverse when compared to the rest of the country.

That’s according to WalletHub, which just released a report ranking 501 U.S. cities on various measures of diversity.

Denver -- Colorado’s biggest and most diverse city -- ranked 36th overall and 17th among large cities (those with more than 300,000 residents). The other Colorado cities that made the list ranked considerably lower.

WalletHub looked at much more than just ethnic diversity to come up with its list. The report included income, education levels, languages spoken and birthplaces, religion, household types and industry/workplace types, among other demographics.

Taking all of those factors as a whole, the title of most diverse city goes to New York City, followed by nearby Jersey City. Houston, Dallas and Silver Spring, Maryland round out the top five.

One highlight in the report is Thornton, which WalletHub says has a wider range of industries than any other city.
