Firefighters searched the home and helped a man and a woman escape. They were transported to the hospital but firefighters couldn't comment on the extent of their injuries.
The fire was still burning at 4:30 a.m. By 5 a.m. crews had the flames out and were working to mop up remaining hot spots.
Part of the roof collapsed, according to the Denver Fire Department.
The house is a complete loss, firefighters said.
Fire officials said the conditions are extremely icy and firefighters have been slipping and falling on the ice, but no crew members were seriously hurt. One firefighter was taken to Denver Health to be treated for exhaustion.
It is too soon to know what sparked the fire.
