DENVER – Police have arrested the driver of an SUV who is accused of striking a Colorado Department of Transportation employee in northwest Denver on Friday morning.
The vehicle involved in the crash, a silver 2004 Ford Explorer, was located, police tweeted shortly before 3 p.m., and a suspect was arrested later in the afternoon. She faces charges of careless driving resulting in injury of a vulnerable road user, a red light violation and leaving the scene of a crash, police said. Her name hasn't been released yet.
The Explorer was seen heading south from the crash, which happened about 10:30 a.m. at West 48th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard, police said.
The victim was seriously injured and was still in the hospital Friday afternoon, according to CDOT.
