A 7-year-old Pennsylvania girl is the latest person to witness America’s heroin epidemic firsthand after she tried for more than a day to wake her dead parents after they overdosed.
The girl went to school Monday, then told her bus driver on the way back to her Pittsburgh-area home that she couldn’t get her parents out of bed that morning.
Police responded and found her parents – 26-year-old Christopher Dilly and 25-year-old Jessica Lally – dead from a suspected heroin overdose.
Three other children were at the home at the time, aged 5, 3 and 9 months. They were unharmed and were placed in the county’s custody.
On Monday, a Memphis, Tennessee man broadcasted live on Facebook as two adults overdosed in the middle of the street. First responders were able to revive them and take them to an area hospital. (Warning: the video is graphic.)
