DENVER – Want to know if your route to work has been freshly plowed? The Colorado Department of Transportation has an app (and website) for that!
The Automated Vehicle Locator (AVL)allows travelers to track in real-time every active snow plow in the state. CDOT hopes the information will help users see which roads are the best for driving.
Travelers can see a plow's current location and see the direction they're traveling. Plows that haven't moved for more than 16 minutes will not be visible.
CDOT says at least 860 of its 970 plows has been outfitted with the AVL system.
