Here are the most traveled structurally deficient bridges in Colorado

DENVER – We travel across them every day but many of us never think twice about the bridges of Colorado.

There are 8,682 bridges across the state of Colorado and 497 of them have been deemed structurally deficient, according to a American Road & Transportation Builders Association's analysis.

The designation is given to bridges that have one or more of its elements, such as the deck, superstructure or substructure, in "poor" or worse condition.

Here are the top most traveled structurally deficient bridges in Colorado:

Nationwide, over 20 states have a more severe situation with their bridges compared to Colorado, but the Centennial State's bridge repairs will be expensive.

Over 1,000 bridges need some form of update or repair, and the study suggests that will cost $2 billion. 

The Colorado Department of Transportation has lofty goals for not just bridge repair, but roadway updates on major highways, so it's not yet clear in what order the bridge repair will be tackled.
