BOULDER, Colo. -- At least five high school students from Boulder Valley High School no longer attend the school after officials expelled them over hateful Facebook messages posted in a chat group.
The messages, according to a report by the Boulder Daily Camera, came to light after a a suicide in September. The group, titled the "4th Reich's Official Group Chat," advocated killing African-Americans and Jewish men and women.
Boulder Police say roughly 15 students across multiple schools participated in the chat, but the group only was made known to police after the death of a Boulder Preparatory Charter School student. According to the Daily Camera report, the student had taken his own life "to show his allegiance to the Nazi party and the killing of Jewish people."
The report did not identify the student.
Although one high school elected to expel students named in the police report, Boulder Police declined to press charges against any students involved. They say there wasn't any evidence that the threats were credible.
