DENVER – Colorado's 143rd birthday was Thursday, but the real gift for park enthusiasts comes Monday. That's when every state park in Colorado is offering free entry.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife offers free entry to its parks on the first Monday of every August, in celebration of Colorado Day, which marks the day Colorado became a state on Aug. 1, 1876.
Entry will be free on Monday but other park fees, including camping reservations and fishing licenses, will still apply.
Colorado has 41 state parks, including several just a short drive from Denver. Go here for a map of every Colorado state park to find one near you.
