DENVER -- The Colorado Rockies will take on the Los Angeles Dodgers during the 23rd home opener at Coors Field Friday.

The game kicks off at 2:10 p.m. Batting practice should start about two hours before game time. Gate A opens at 11 a.m. for rooftop access. The rest opens at noon.

Pitcher Kyle Freeland will start for the Rockies. The 23-year-old will make his big big league debut at the home opener. Freeland grew up in Denver and attended Thomas Jefferson High School.

The weather for Opening Day will be delightful! We're expecting plenty of sunshine and afternoon temperatures in the low 70s (don't forget the sunscreen).

Getting there
Denver Public Works is encouraging fans to plan ahead and be mindful of the routes they choose to get to the stadium. Construction is currently underway along Brighton Boulevard from 29th to 44th Streets, so unless fans are stopping at a brewery or other business along Brighton before or after the game, they might want to use a different route to avoid construction.

Another alternative to taking your car: RTD’s RockiesRide provides direct bus service to Coors from four Park-n-Ride locations on Opening Day. RTD also offers trips to downtown near Coors Field on its regularly scheduled rail and bus routes. For more information, go to

There are four new culinary options at Coors Field. From shareable loaded French fries and gourmet grilled cheese to house-cured, hand-carved and handmade sandwiches, Colorado is getting some interesting eats this year.

The Rockies will be using walk-through metal detectors at all gates. Fans should expect longer waits at the gates. For fans with no bags, there will be express lanes at some gates.
