Greeley Police shot an armed man after shocking him with a Taser didn't stop him, investigators said.
Officers got reports of an intoxicated man causing a disturbance in the 1300 block of 16th Avenue, Sgt. Joseph Tymkowych said.
When officers arrived at about 2:15 a.m., they found the suspect inside a home and tried to arrest him.
Sgt. Tymkowych said officers tried to subdue the man with a Taser but they were "uneffective."
"The suspect advanced on officers with a weapon," Tymkowych told Denver7.
The man was transported to the Northern Colorado Medical Center in critical condition for surgery, Tymkowych said.
No officers were hurt in the confrontation and no other injuries were reported.
The suspect had two active arrest warrants for felony assault and escape out of the Department of Corrections.
The 19th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team is investigating.
