DENVER — Flags across Colorado will be lowered to half-staff Wednesday and remain that way for one week in honor of a fallen soldier, Gov. Jared Polis ordered Tuesday.
Sgt. 1st Class William Lindsay, 33, died in Afghanistan on March 22. He was a green beret from Cortez and stationed in Fort Carson in Colorado Springs.
Lindsay and another Fort Carson soldier — Spc. Joseph P. Collette, 29, from Lancaster, Ohio — were killed by small arms fire during combat operations in the Kunduz Province of Afghanistan, according to a military release.
Lindsay’s body will return to Colorado Springs Wednesday, and the unit memorial service will be held April 9.
