GOLDEN, Colo. – A man involved in a shooting at an apartment complex in Golden has turned himself in, police said Thursday evening.
The suspected shooter, who was not identified, turned himself in sometime before 6 p.m. and is cooperating with authorities following a shooting in the parking lot of the Golden Ridge condominiums, located at 1300 Golden Circle.
A man who was struck by gunfire remains hospitalized but does not have life threatening injuries, according to police.
The victim told investigators that he pulled into the parking lot and overheard two men fighting with a woman. He talked with one suspect who then fired two shots at the man, hitting him once in the right hip. The man did not know the suspects, police said.
“There were many witnesses to this event, and the witnesses have been very helpful in helping Golden Police track down the people involved so quickly,” Karlyn Tilley, a spokesperson with the Golden Police Department said. “There is no concern for public safety.”
Police said it is unclear at this time what roles each individual play in the shooting or who was the primary aggressor.
Investigators also said the majority of the parties involved had been identified and are also taking to Golden’s investigation team about the shooting.
