Golden autumn on some passes, snow on others

Posted

While we're recommending Kenosha Pass and Guanella Pass as great places to go this weekend to see fall colors, there are other high country locations in Colorado where you could go today to find snow.

Cameron Pass, on the border of Jackson and Larimer Counties, had a dusting of snow on the 10,276-foot elevation pass Friday morning. Colorado Department of Transportation Cameras showed tire tracks in the snow.

The pass is along SH-14, on the southern edge of Roosevelt National Forest.

Meanwhile, cameras in Rocky Mountain National Park also showed snowfall.

A web cam at the Alpine Visitor Center showed snow on the balcony and fog in the distance early Friday morning, but it seems to have all melted within a few hours. That visitor center is located along Trail Ridge Road at an altitude of 11,796 feet.
