BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. – Nine years after it was retired due to safety concerns, the Breckenridge Main Street Trolley again rolled through the town’s main thoroughfare Thursday.
The free downtown trolley took its first official trip down Main Street at 10:20 a.m. after a few dozen people showed up early for breakfast and a ribbon cutting in the Blue River Plaza.
The trolley will run every 20 minutes from the Breckenridge Transit Station, down Main Street to the Ice Rink, with a stop at City Market.
The town aims to relieve traffic and congestion by again using the trolley, in addition to its other bus lines that go to other parts of town and up to the ski resort.
Parking and transportation have been a point of contention between the town and ski resort, who have gone back and forth as to whether more transportation was needed or more parking.
