AURORA, Colo. – If you’re in the Aurora area and want to be sure your child is up to date on their vaccinations before school starts, there is another low- and no-cost vaccination clinic taking place this Saturday.
The Shots for Tots and Teens clinic will be open at Aurora Fire Station #2, located at 12600 Hoffman Blvd., from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., as it is each second Saturday of the month.
Vaccination experts from Tri-County Health Department and the Colorado Children’s Immunization Coalition will be on hand to answer questions for parents.
The clinic in Aurora serves uninsured patients, as well as those with Medicaid, CHP+ and most private insurance – though people covered by Kaiser and “select” other private insurances would not be covered.
Parents or legal guardians must be present for a child to be immunized, and they must bring their child’s or children’s immunization records.
For students entering kindergarten, the state requires an up to date shot record with the following vaccinations:
· DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough)
· MMR (measles, mumps and rubella)
· Hepatitis B
· Polio
· Varicella (Chicken Pox)
The state also recommends the HPV vaccine and the meningococcal conjugate vaccine (meningitis) for students entering middle school.
