DENVER — Several Colorado communities have been named some of the healthiest in the United States.

Four Colorado counties are among the top 10 healthiest communities in the country, according to a new ranking from U.S. News & World Report.

The ranking, which includes both cities and counties, considered dozens of different factors in 10 categories, including health, education, housing, the economy, public safety and equity.

At the top of the list of Colorado communities is Douglas County, which was named the country's healthiest in a similar report from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin earlier this month. Broomfield County came in second.

U.S. News & World Report named Falls Church, Virginia as the overall healthiest community in the country.

Below are the top 10 healthiest communities, according to U.S. News & World Report:

1.    Falls Church city, Va.
2.    Douglas County, Colo.
3.    Broomfield County, Colo.
4.    Los Alamos County, N.M.
5.    Dukes County, Mass.
6.    Fairfax city, Va.
7.    Hamilton County, Ind.
8.    Routt County, Colo.
9.    Ouray County, Colo.
10.    Loudoun County, Va.

U.S. News & World Report also split the communities into separate lists of urban and rural communities. Douglas and Broomfield counties retain their position in relation to other urban counties but are the only Colorado communities to make that top 10 list.

When looking only at rural communities, more Colorado counties make the top 10, including Grand, Chaffee and Pitkin counties.
