FOUNTAIN, Colo. -- Police in Fountain are investigating an accidental shooting that wounded a small girl. Police say the 3 or 4-year-old girl was shot in the head.
The shooting happened around 5 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of Progress Drive.
Police have not said what may have led up to the shooting, but they are calling the incident an "accident."
"Injuries are unknown at this point. Nobody is in custody at this point and the investigation is still ongoing," Fountain Police Officer Sean Hartley told Denver7 partner, KRDO.
The girl went through emergency surgery, but it’s not clear if she will survive.
