WESTMINSTER, Colo. – The former Westminster High School teacher and coach arrested for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a student has been formally charged and is out of jail pending his next court hearing.
Benjamin Forbes, 30, was formally charged Tuesday with one count of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and one count of sexual assault on a child as a pattern of abuse. Both are felony charges.
Forbes, who was a math teacher and head soccer coach at the school, resigned Dec. 1.
Administrators told officers a school employee noticed “odd” behavior between Forbes and a female student. The school employee then reported this behavior to administrators, who reported it to police.
Forbes has posted a $10,000 bond and is next due in Adams County court Feb. 8 for his preliminary hearing.
