GREELEY, Colo. (AP) -- A former town board member in northern Colorado has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for fatally stabbing a woman who prosecutors say disrespected his biker gang.

The Greeley Tribune reports34-year-old Daniel Meyer was convicted Monday of first-degree murder and was immediately sentenced for the Sept. 30, 2015, death of 34-year-old Tera Lewandowski, whose remains were found near Cheyenne, Wyoming. The former board member from Pierce was one of seven people arrested in the case.

Lewandowski had been living at Meyer's home for about a week before she was killed, and several co-defendants testified she was killed for disrespecting the small gang during an argument with a member's fiancee.

According to court documents, Lewandowski texted her mother the night before her disappearance, saying "stay by your phone, something might happen tonight."
