A former Colorado Springs homicide detective accused of tampering with evidence in a kidnapping case and lying about having a sexual relationship with the alleged victim has been given four years of probation as part of a plea deal.
The Gazette reported Monday that 40-year-old Paul Patton also must complete 300 hours of community service and undergo a mental evaluation. He pleaded guilty to official misconduct and trying to influence a public servant.
Patton, a 15-year veteran, was placed on administrative leave in July after investigators learned about his sexual affair with the alleged victim in a kidnapping case he investigated.
