DENVER – It's Thursday, June 8. Here are five things you need to know to start your day:

1. Former FBI Director James Comey is testifying in front of Congress
The public will get to watch former FBI Director James Comey speak to Congress under oath, his first appearance in public since he was dismissed from the job by President Donald Trump. Denver7 will stream Comey’s testimony.

2. Gov. Hickenlooper signs 2 marijuana bills into law
Two marijuana-related bills, HB 1220 and HB 1221, will become law Thursday. These new laws will restrict the amount of marijuana plants that can be possessed or grown on a residential property.

3. GoPro Mountain Games begin in Vail

4. Closure continues on Speer tonight
Northbound Speer Boulevard is open during the day Thursday but will close tonight. All northbound lanes between Colfax and Champa will be closed from 7 p.m. tonight until 4 a.m. Monday.
