WARD, Colo. — The aspen trees are already starting to show the first signs of fall in the high country. Denver7 drove up the Peak to Peak Highway towards Brainard Lake to show areas where the leaves are starting to change.

Colorado's peak fall foliage in the mountains is usually from mid-September to mid-October. The colors can vary by season and depend on temperatures.

The trees in the mountains will change color earlier than trees in the Denver Metro area. Your best chance to see the fall colors in the Mile High City is in October to mid-November.
