LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. -- The Cameron Peak Fire burning in Larimer County had reached 38% containment Saturday as favorable weather conditions moved in.
Fire officials have issued a Red Flag Warning for Friday afternoon with wind gusts expected around 30-35 mph as well as low humidity and warm temperatures. However, weather was moderated by the shade provided by the Mullen Fire’s drift smoke in the afternoon, officials said.
The good weather conditions helped decrease fire behavior and allowed for more direct work on the fire perimeter.
Containment measures Friday allowed the Larimer County Sheriff to lift voluntary evacuation orders for County Roads 44H and 27 to Pennock Pass. A full list of evacuation orders can be found here.
Saturday, firefighters will continue securing the perimeter of the fire before the predicted increase in fire behavior Monday.
Officials also launched two new live feeds of the fire, which can be viewed here and here.
The fire started in the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests near Cameron Pass and Chambers Lake Aug. 13. Its cause is under investigation. The Cameron Peak Fire is the third largest fire in Colorado's recorded history at 125,715 acres.
