DENVER — Adams County Fire responded to a fire at a closed school near the US 36 and Interstate 25 interchange Wednesday morning.

The fire department confirmed a structure fire at Valley View K-8 school, located at 660 W. 70th Ave. in Denver.

As 8:11 a.m., the department said crews were doing a primary search of the structure while containing the fire. They completed the search around 8:30 a.m. and determined nobody was inside, according to Adams County Fire.

The school closed in May of 2019. A demolition company had already been hired and was set to begin work this spring.
