1 injured in Thornton house fire

THORNTON, Colo. – One person had to be taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation following a large house fire in Thornton Wednesday morning.

Firefighters got the call around 7:15 a.m. They arrived to find the home in the 9200 block of Yucca Way fully engulfed.

The fire was so intense, smoke could be seen for several miles. Aerial footage from Airtracker7 showed crews battling large flames and thick smoke.

It appears the home was heavily damaged. Part of the roof collapsed during the fire. A van parked on the side of the home appeared to be a complete loss.

Firefighters said the only occupant in the home was the victim whom paramedics transported to the hospital.

It’s not known what caused the fire, however firefighters say the blaze doesn’t appear suspicious.
