The Adams 14 school board is expected to announce its decision on who should take over management of the school district on Tuesday night.

The state board of education ordered the drastic and unprecedented change in November to try to fix the district’s performance issues. For eight years, the district and its high school have received the two lowest ratings in Colorado’s school accountability system, which measures test results, academic growth, graduation and dropout rates, among other things.

A community group charged with assisting the Adams 14 board has spent weeks reviewing applications from multiple external management organizations [EMOs]. Over the weekend, the community group questioned the final four finalists — the nearby Mapleton School District, Schools Cube, MGT with the University of Virginia, and District Renaissance Partners. See each group's responses on the Adams 14 website.

The district's EMO choice still has to be approved by the state.

Adams 14 has 13 schools and about 7,500 students. According to state testing results, one-in-five fifth graders are reading and writing at a fifth-grade level and just one-in-ten are at their proper grade levels for math.
