DENVER – Despite breaking several records for the month, February ended with a cold whimper.

This past month broke four temperature records, including the 80 degree scorcher, but a last-minute cold snap kept Denver out of the record book. February 2017 ended up being the sixth warmest on record.

According to the National Weather Service, the average monthly February temperature in Denver was 40.3 degrees. The warmest February on record occurred in 1954, when the average temperature for the month was 43.7 degrees.

March is shaping up to be a warm month as well. The National Weather Service predicts above-normal temperatures for most of Colorado.
