DENVER — He may not have reported it as missing, but Von Miller received a special piece of memorabilia on Wednesday, stolen not long after the Denver Broncos Super Bowl 50 victory.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation returned Von Miller's helmet worn during the most important victory of his career. Authorities found it in a cache of stolen memorabilia from some of the sport's largest games.
That stolen memorabilia included two of Tom Brady's jerseys, the disappearance of which kicked off an international investigation after Super Bowl 51.
Houston Police worked with the FBI after the theft, tracking down a credentialed member of the media who had been stealing gear after games for years.
Immediately after officials pointed to Martín Mauricio Ortega Camberos as the thief, his newspaper dismissed him and denounced his conduct in an editorial.
Von Miller never commented about the theft, but did appear enthusiastic to receive his gear back.
