The father of a 3-year-old boy wonders if his son's drowning death could've been prevented.

Sylas Barribeau died after he was found in the water at the Ruedi Reservoir on Sunday. He passed away at the hospital the next day.

"We have to keep an eye on our children, they're too precious, our children are too precious. They're a gift that's given to us that can be so easily taken away," said Robert Barribeau.

Barribeau talked to Denver7 because he wanted to tell other parents to be careful, especially as we approach the summer months.

"A 3-year-old should never ever ever be left next an open body of water and if there's anything that I can stress to any other parent, it's not a joke -- it's water," said Barribeau.

On the same day, an unconscious 6-year-old boy was pulled from a body of water in Lakewood.

The father says CPR was performed on his son and he was later flown to a children's hospital. He was reportedly found by a fisherman.

The boy was with his mother, brother and other family members at the time of the incident.

"Watch your kids, please watch your kids," said Barribeau.
