DENVER — Police in Denver are investigating a fatal shooting early Saturday morning in the city's Five Points neighborhood that took the life of a 35-year-old father of six.

Mark Hill will always be remembered by those who loved him most.

“He was a phenomenal, phenomenal, phenomenal father,” daughter Shaniyah Sullivan said.

But early Saturday morning the father of six was taken from his family, just yards from his home.

“Around 1:30 am on Saturday, he was hanging out with some of our neighbors, and he was riding the moped, and somebody just came by and shot him,” she added.

Police are still looking for the gunman, and Crime Stoppers is adding a reward to help catch the killer.

“It’s still surreal. I’m just trying to take it one second at a time. I think that I don’t even know if it’s fully hit me just yet,” wife Ambrosia Hamilton-Hill said.

He was shot and killed right before Father's Day, one of his son's birthday and the couple's anniversary. Tuesday marked 15 years of marriage with his wife.

“I lost my husband, my best friend, the person I thought I would grow old with,” Hamilton-Hill said.

But instead of celebrating a marriage, they are focused on a memorial service.

“Everyone is taking it hard. We don’t have deaths in our family, so when it does, it shakes everybody up,” Sullivan said.

Hill was involved in the church, wanting to help young men stay out of trouble.

“He touched a ton of people, and I’m thankful for that,” Hamilton-Hill said.

While justice won’t bring Mark back, it will help this family understand why he’s gone.

“You know, you took a man who is a father and a husband and his life mattered, and it meant something to a lot of people,” Hamilton-Hill said.

They hope to push forward and keep his legacy alive for his family and community.
