DENVER -- Some call it clever campaigning, others call it crude. A couple of campaign photos from Boulder earlier this week were apparently way too distasteful for Facebook.
One featured a button that says, “69... The best F*CKING amendment on the ballot.”
The other is a photo of two Amendment 69 campaigners, each wearing a prosthetic buttocks.
“And the metaphor that they’re making is the corporate insurance industry is leaving Coloradans uncovered,” said ColoradoCare campaign spokesman Owen Perkins. “These were college students who had a great slogan that got them excited in a way that they could spread it."
But Facebook took exception to the photos and censored them when an opposition group, Advancing Colorado, posted them to the social networking site.
"Our supporters -- that's part of the grass roots effort,” Perkins said. “They've come up with a lot of creative ways of getting the word out."
ColoradoCare would offer Coloradans universal health care by implementing a 3.3 percent payroll tax.
Polling currently indicates the initiative has an uphill battle to succeed. Right now, most experts suggest the measure is failing by a 2-1 margin.
