A former Steamboat Springs police officer who was accused of lying about her past drug use when she applied for a job at the Routt County Sheriff's Office has been found not guilty.
The Steamboat Pilot & Today reports that a jury on Thursday found Kristin Bantle not guilty of a felony attempt to influence a public servant.
Bantle applied for a job at the Routt County Sheriff's Office in 2013. After allegations that she lied on her application surfaced this summer, she was fired from the Steamboat Springs Police Department.
Bantle's attorney says the charge was in retaliation for her having voiced concerns about the work atmosphere and leadership at the police department.
