Evans Police: Impersonator stole driver's wallet

Posted

A man in Evans says a police impersonator pulled him over Monday night and stole his wallet.

The victim told Evans Police a man in a dark-colored SUV stopped him near 11th Avenue and Pleasant Acres Drive a little before 8 p.m.

The victim said the SUV had a spotlight and red and blue emergency lights in the grill or on the dash. He was not able to get a good description of the impersonator because of the spotlight.

The Evans Police Department is seeking anyone who may have additional information concerning this incident. If you have information please contact Sgt. Ranous at 970.475.1144.

If you are unsure about a traffic stop, make sure to drive to a well-lit area where you are able to see and identify the police car and its occupants. Use your emergency flashers if you are able and call 911 immediately to check on the legitimacy of the stop if you have any concerns.
