EAGLE COUNTY, Colo. -- The Eagle County Sheriff's Office reported a large wildland fire burning near the town of Meredith and Thomasville Saturday.
A campground in the area was voluntarily evacuated, and homes in the area did receive a pre-evacuation notice as a precautionary step.
One structure is being threatened, but the the flames are not considered a threat to the towns of Meredith and Thomasville at this time.
The fire is growing fast and is believed to be more than 50 acres in size. It's burning on mostly Forest Service land and moving in a northern direction.
The report of smoke came in just after 3 p.m. near Ruedi Reservoir.
There are seven engines and 26 personnel fighting the fire.
The National Weather Service is warning of near critical wildfire conditions in southern Colorado mountains and valleys through Saturday.
