Englewood officer shot in the line of duty out of hospital

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The female Englewood officer shot in the line of duty was released from the hospital Wednesday.

The evening of June 9, Englewood Police Officer Riddle was shot during an exchange of gunfire with a suspect who sustained fatal injuries.

Riddle and other officers were responding to a domestic violence call involving a gun pointed at the victim at the Englewood Light Rail Station, according to police. Officers spotted the 31-year-old man involved in the domestic violence call on the south side of the station.

When they made contact with the suspect, there was an exchange of gunfire on the light-rail platform, according to Investigator Scot Allen with the Englewood Police Department.

Riddle, a six-year veteran of the force, was wounded and transported to Swedish Medical Center. She was released Wednesday. The other two responding officers were not injured.

during the gunfire, a dog was inadvertently shot and died at the scene, police said.

Arapahoe County's Critical Response Team was brought in to investigate the officer-involved shooting.
