EnduroCross race comes to Denver

Posted

Get ready for a wild ride on Saturday! EnduroCross, an off-road, indoor motorcycle race, is happening at the National Western Complex.

Known as the "toughest race on two wheels," riders compete on a track filled with obstacles including boulders, logs, sand, mud, giant tires and a water hole.

7NEWS got a preview Friday morning with national champ Destry Abbott taking a ride on Denver's course for the first time. He said spectators can expect action and adrenaline.

"My heart rates is still high, I just did a couple laps out there," Abbott said. "It's going to be 12 guys on the track at once. Carnage everywhere, the leader goes down. If you like excitement, you like adrenaline, you like motor sports, this is one of the best races around."

The public is invited to watch practice free of charge from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, October 3.

The race is from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets range from $13 to $27, based on seating level. You can buy tickets online here.

A free autograph and photo session with the top riders is included with every ticket. That starts at 6 p.m.

Riders include 2014 Series Champion Cody Webb, currently tied with 2015 points leader Colton Haaker. XGames’ Medalist Tarah Gieger, featured on the cover of ESPN Magazine’s “Body Issue,” will also be racing. She is currently among the top five woman riders in the world.

Local riders are invited to compete as well. Those who want to test their skills on the EnduroCross track can enter Open Amateur, Vet 35+, Women and TrialsCross.

The National Western Complex is located at 4655 Humboldt St., Denver, CO  80216.
