KITTREDGE, Colo. — A building under renovation in Kittredge — a small community in unincorporated Jefferson County — went up in flames Monday morning.
Shortly before 5 a.m., Evergreen Fire Rescue responded to a report of a structure fire off Myers Gulch and Columbine Trail. The building was identified as an old one-story hotel or motel, said Stacee Martin with Evergreen Fire Rescue.
The building was under renovation and nobody was inside, she said.

About two dozen firefighters responded to the scene.
Martin said the investigation will be difficult because the fire and water has compromised the building, making it unsafe for firefighters. Roads were closed while authorities worked to extinguish the fire.
