DENVER — The Dumb Friends League said a person who falsely claimed to be representing the organization was soliciting donations in Westminster Tuesday.
The DFL, which is the largest independent, nonprofit community-based animal shelter in the Rocky Mountain region, said the person was reportedly going door to door near 134th Avenue and Osage Street in Westminster.
A homeowner said she was shocked somebody would come to her door during a pandemic to impersonate a charitable organization, the DFL said.
"The League depends on the trust and donations of our community to continue our programs and services and will never come to someone’s door asking for donations, especially in the midst of a health crisis," the DFL said.
Anybody who encounters this person is asked to call law enforcement.
