PARKER, Colo. – A Parker woman was sentenced to jail time and probation for leaving the scene of a car crash in which she badly injured an 11-year-old boy last year.
Kimberley Miller, 49, was sentenced Tuesday to 30 days in jail and two years probation, with credit for time served. Miller pleaded guilty in February to leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury and as a result of the plea deal, had the other charges against her dropped.
Miller hit the boy with her car while driving on Stonegate Parkway in Douglas County on July 25, 2017 but didn’t stop, prosecutors said. The boy suffered a broken skull, a concussion and a bruised lung.
Police later caught up with Miller after matching damage to her car against witness reports. At the time, Miller told police her car incurred the damage, which included a broken side mirror, while she was backing out of the garage.
The judge ordered Miller to begin her sentence immediately.
