A driver was killed in a head-on crash with a Westminster Police officer who was responding to an emergency call.
The crash happened at Federal Boulevard and West 88th Avenue at about 1:15 a.m.
Police said the officer was driving southbound on Federal when a silver Chevy Malibu that was heading north turned in front of the officer at 88th.
The cars collided head on.
The man driving the Malibu was pronounced dead at the scene.
The officer involved in the crash went to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.
Police said the officer was responding to a "high priority call" involving weapons.
The preliminary investigation shows the officer’s lights and sirens were on at the time of the crash, said Investigator Cheri Spottke.
The intersection was closed for more than five hours.
