Driver dies after crashing car through several yards in Highlands Ranch

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – A woman is dead after crashing her car through multiple yards and hitting a home and a tree in Highlands Ranch Tuesday morning.

The driver was heading eastbound on University Boulevard near Cresthill Lane when the vehicle left the road at about 2 a.m., according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicle took out a section of fence, hit a house and then hit a tree, passing through several yards in the process, deputies said.

The woman, identified as Teresa Hood, 58, of Highlands Ranch, was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy was scheduled for later Monday.

One lane of University Boulevard was closed due to the crash.
