COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A driver has been booked into El Paso County jail after she was accused of assaulting and "partially dragging" a police officer.
Around 6:45 p.m. on Friday, the Colorado Springs Police Department received multiple calls about a woman acting erratic at a 7-Eleven located at the intersection of Uintah Street and N. 19th Street.
An officer arrived at the scene and tried to contact her, but she "immediately became uncooperative and refused orders given to her by the officer," according to the police department.
While details are sparse, the police department said "a struggle ensued" and the officer was assaulted and "partially dragged" while the woman drove in reverse. She allegedly backed into the marked police car, causing minor damage.
Two nearby civilians helped the officer control the woman while the officer put her in handcuffs.
The officer had minor injuries.
Police identified the woman as Sarah Lightfoot, 31. They also found that the vehicle she was in had been stolen.
Lightfoot was booked into the El Paso County jail on numerous charges.
