DENVER -- Two dogs in the Denver metro area were rescued this weekend after falling into freezing water.

Denver Fire pulled a dog out of the water at ParkField Lake Saturday.

Arvada Fire rescued a dog from an icy pond Sunday.

Fire officials said the rescues are a reminder for dog owners to keep their pets on a leash during this time of the year when the water can be look deceiving.

“You may go up to the foothills and ice there maybe a little thicker because temps are cooler up there, but in town temps change from hot to cold so we want people to stay off the ice in general,” said Arvada Fire Department Lt. Derrick Varela.

None of the dogs rescued this weekend were injured.
